Are you or someone you know making a real difference in the mental health sector in South Australia?

The Mental Health Coalition of SA (MHCSA) Lived Experience Awards are now open, and this year we are celebrating 10 years of LEWP. This special recognition honors the exceptional work of individuals in designated lived experience and peer roles across our state.

“The awards are a moment to pause and celebrate the health of lived experience work. Celebrating the real people having real impact in our sector,” says Molly Springhall, Program Manager, Lived Experience Workforce Program.

“Each lived experience worker brings their own experience and strengths to their role. Celebrating this work publicly reinforces that lived experience is not only valid, but vital.

As our workforce grows, so does the impact. These awards are one way we get to say thank you and keep the momentum going.”

This year we have introduced the category of teams, programs, or initiatives within South Australia’s mental health sector that are staffed by individuals in paid roles where personal lived experience of mental health challenges is an essential job requirement. These teams contribute to the mental health system through various capacities including direct peer support, service design and evaluation, policy advocacy, or training and education roles.

Don’t let this opportunity pass by to gain recognition for your hard work, dedication, and the vital role you play in South Australia’s mental health landscape. Download your application today and take this chance to showcase the difference you’re making in your community.

If you’re a paid Lived Experience or Peer Worker or Student, or know someone who fits this description, this is your opportunity to celebrate outstanding contributions to mental health support. Whether you work as a Peer Support Worker, Recovery Coach, Student of Peer Work, or Carer Consultant, we want to hear about the meaningful impact you’re making in people’s lives.

The application process is straightforward, with entries now open and submissions due by 5pm on Thursday, 28th August 2025.

A dedicated panel of judges will carefully review all applications, with finalists to be announced by 30th September 2025.
