‘Unpacking the LEWP NGO Mental Health LE Workforce Standards and Guidelines’
LEWP co-designed the Standards and Guidelines to support the effective recruitment, retention and growth of the Lived Experience/Peer Workforce in SA’s NGO mental health sector. The document offers best practice principles for embedding and growing the workforce with examples of evidence. Designed as a self-assessment tool, NGOs work through each Standard to undertake a gap analysis, then develop an Action Plan to address these gaps and develop clear, purposeful strategies.
With plans in SA and nationally calling for the expansion of the Peer Workforce, NGOs have an opportunity to be prepared through implementation of the Standards and Guidelines.
In this and future sessions, representatives of organisations can unpack the document together one Standard and a time, with opportunity to ask questions, share successes and challenges and ideas for implementation.
