Recently we celebrated a significant milestone at the Mental Health Coalition of SA. Our Lived Experience Workforce Program (LEWP) marked its 10th anniversary with a special webinar that captured the heart of what we do.
It’s remarkable to reflect on how LEWP began as a simple project born from the Office of Chief Psychiatrist’s recognition that our sector needed a dedicated lived experience and peer workforce. Today, it stands as a comprehensive program that has fundamentally changed how we approach mental health support in South Australia.
The webinar brought together voices from across the decade – from Kristin Soyland, who has been with our Reference Group since day one in 2015, to leaders like Tracey Wanganeen who have helped LEWP to work effectively with organisations to better understand, support and grow the lived experience workforce. Molly and Lizzie joined in to talk about not only the program but how they embody the principles in their day-to-day work. Thanks to our President Paul Creedon who joined in to share how LEWP fits into the broader picture of our work here at the MHCSA.
It was great to reflect that LEWP’s commitment to ensuring lived experience voices shape and lead the workforce has remained unwavering throughout its evolution.
