At the Mental Health Coalition of SA we acknowledge the outcome of referendum. We also acknowledge the grief, compounded by pre-existing intergenerational trauma, felt by many in our community, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who were hopeful of change.
The Mental Health Coalition continues to value the culture and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and recognises them as the first people of this land. Regardless of the referendum outcome, the MHCSA will continue to advocate for the right of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to control what happens to them.
The Mental Health Coalition of SA is committed to truth-telling and reconciliation and will walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities to overcome inequality, discrimination and structural racism, ensuring services are safe and inclusive for all.
