The Statewide Eating Disorders Service Building Design oversight committee has sought feedback from the non-government mental health sector on the latest designs for Australia’s first integrated eating disorders service.
The new centre is part of a service redesign that is being overseen by Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation, with CEO John Mannion, presenting alongside Cheesman Architects, James Sage and Louisa Flynn.
Representatives from twelve non-government mental health services attended the consultation, providing feedback on the proposed five-bed facility to be co-located with the new Statewide Eating Disorders Service Centre.
The designs focused on two residential wings within the facility, and the creation of protected, discreet and safe spaces, including individual and community spaces, as well as the utilisation of natural light and garden settings.
Thank you to all NGO representatives for your valuable input, to be used by the oversight committee to update the designs, and allow for a continuing level of flexibility as the model of care develops.
